G of C news
A big "Thank You" to the Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central students who so graciously donated their time and talent for this years 3rd annual "ReGifting Benefit". The evening was fabulous and everyone enjoyed the event. Almost $1,000 was raised by this group of students.
It has been a very busy week for The G of C. With the help of the Kohl's of Elmhurst "Kohl's Cares" program, 300 goody bags were made for the students and families who attended this years Arbor Day Celebration.
We planted 8 memorial trees on 04/24/15 at Lindenwood Park in Darien. It was a beautiful morning for the annual Celebration. The students were educated about the importance of trees by The Morton Arboretum and also about fire safety by the Tri-State Firemen.
The Gift of Carl hosted the 4th Run, Walk, Bike event at Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve on December, 14. This was our biggest year yet, with over 50 friends! A big thank you to John Caponi for organizing and to Bill Walsh Automotive in Ottawa, IL for donating the cool winter hats and gloves to all participants.
The winners of the 2014 Carl Vuillaume Thespian Scholarship from Hinsdale South High School pictured here with Rob Vuillaume are: Kristina Guchenia-$1,500, Jennifer Cintron-$1,000, Emily Barham-$500, Samantha Duffy-$500 & Patrice Batryn-$500.
April 2014 brought the 9th year of our participation in Darien's Arbor Day celebration. We planted 5 memorial trees in Darien's Smart Oaks Park, released monarch butterflies with students, and donated a compost bin to Mark DeLay Elementary School's early childhood classrooms. Thanks to Kohl's of Elmhurst and Downer's Grove for helping making this day possible!
